MTG Change Log — V77 → Rev 2 v0.0
Session: 29 May 2026. Jose / Paul Roebuck.
Source of truth for the V77 cycle and the Rev 2 v0.0 promotion. Continues the V70→V76 log.
Headline
The Vnn working counter retires at V77. The manuscript is promoted to Rev 2 v0.0 — editorially complete, ready for external review. One tracked editing pass (three edits), then Paul's hand-back with amendments and a small cut.
Revision scheme (new):
- Rev = an external-facing milestone build. Rev 1 was the ~27,000-word initial-review manuscript. Rev 2 is the complete ~46,130-word book.
- vN.M = review iteration within a Rev. v0.0 is the pre-review baseline; reviewer feedback iterates v0.1, v0.2…; folding it in cuts the next milestone.
- The internal Vnn counter (…V76 → V77) is retired and recorded here for audit. Rev 2 v0.0 ≡ V77 + Paul's hand-back.
V77 — date fix, heading rename, front-page block
Single tracked-editing pass on the V76 baseline. Three edits.
- Edit 1 — Ch 4 date. "the ChatGPT I first logged into in November 2022" → "…in December 2022." Clears the contradiction with Ch 9 and Ch 10 (both 11 December 2022) and with the 30 November public launch.
- Edit 2 — Ch 10 heading. The duplicated body heading "The Maturity Spectrum" (the one after the 11-December vignette) → "The Four Postures." Honours the chapter's reframe (they are not ranks, they are postures) and stops the chapter title appearing twice within sixteen lines. Chapter title and Contents entry unchanged.
- Edit 3 — Front-page "Who is this book for?" block. Rewritten to Paul's specification: dropped "serious"; folded the prompting/vibe-coding boundary into a positive frame; regrouped into three reader-sections; left-aligned (was centred); close retained. Spelling/grammar fixes: resposnilbe → responsible; broken "…analysis. and executives…" join repaired; stray double space removed; mental-health providers → provider.
- Mode: tracked editing (one structural element — the block rewrite — handled within the same tracked pass).
- Verification: accept-all simulated and diffed against V76. Only the three intended changes present; nothing else moved.
Rev 2 v0.0 — Paul's hand-back
Paul accepted the V77 changes on the Mac, with amendments, and the file returned clean (zero tracked changes) — correct for an external-review build.
Changes observed on Paul's side (his edits, recorded not corrected):
- Front-page block: re-split to one audience per line; wording tuned — added bankers; sales leaders → leaders; has to bear → must bear; Plus → Plus,; close now reads "This is not a book about AI, or how to use AI. It is a book about behaviour."
- Ch 14: removed "Mr [name held]'s fingers." from the what the human brought list. [name held] now appears nowhere in the manuscript body; still acknowledged in the front matter, which stands alone cleanly — no orphan.
State at promotion:
- ≈46,130 words (clean; count varies slightly by method). 15 chapters. UK English en-GB.
- No residual tracked changes. No orphan deletion marks.
- Editorially complete by Paul's judgement and Jose's, as editor.

V79 — factcheck branch (light summary, reverse-engineered from diff)
Added 01 June 2026. Paul made these in a separate branch (combination of manual and other edits) and supplied V79 as the current, most up-to-date version. It supersedes this session's Rev 2 v0.0. Summary below is derived by diffing Rev 2 v0.0 → V79; the what is verified against the files, the why is inferred from the factcheck thread and labelled where uncertain.
V79 is the live baseline. ≈46,236 words. Carries all V77 work (December date, "The Four Postures", [name held] cut) plus the factcheck pass below.
- Ch (anchors) — Frankl line softened. "Frankl: between stimulus and response there is a space" → "Frankl: the principle most associated with him — that between stimulus and response there is a space"; Buddha line likewise hedged ("often rendered from the Dhammapada"). Resolves the known Frankl misattribution — the quote is widely attributed to Frankl but not found verbatim in his work. Framing now claims association, not authorship.
- Ch 13 (WaaS) — fabricated statistics replaced with sourced figures. The old "99.6% accuracy / 68% cycle time / 57% cost" block → Gartner (by 2029, agentic AI resolves up to ~80% of common service issues, ~30% cost cut) and Klarna (OpenAI assistant, early 2024: two-thirds of chats within a month, ~700 FTE-equivalent, resolution 11 min → under 2 min). Primary-sourced; matches the factcheck thread.
- Ch (data-centre passage) — environmental figures hedged. Google water "six and a half billion" → "around six billion gallons"; the ChatGPT-vs-search energy claim now flagged as a 2024 estimate "since revised sharply downward." De-risks contestable figures.
- Ch (inner-child / paralaminar) — age corrected. "77-year-old brain" → "78-year-old brain." Aligns with the Nature Communications 2019 source.
- Front matter — subtitle reflowed to two lines on the title page; minor block punctuation settled (bold artefacts gone).
- 🔴 Credentials line now reads "NCS (Accred)" — the "M" has been dropped from "MNCS". See flag below.
Companion docs (Register v1.5, To-Do Rev2, Helicopter Rev2, Artefact List, Breadcrumbs supplement): no canonical-line change in V79; the WaaS/Gartner/Klarna and Frankl items were already noted in memory. Bibliography should gain Gartner + Klarna entries if not already present.
